Press Select + R to pause the game while only use minimal battery power.
Press Select + L to resume the current game. Note: This will shut off of
the LCD screen and sound, but your game will still be paused.
Extra hearts
Find a giant enemy and throw them. Do not through them off a ledge or into
an enemy. A heart will pop out of them. You can do this as many times as
needed if you do not kill them.
Extra lives
Each time the spinners start in the bonus round, the second symbol in the
first slot is always a cherry. If done correctly, you can usually get an
average of at least one extra life per coin.
World 1-1 quick ending
On World 4-1, get the Princess. Go up the vine, but go to the left. Run and
fly to a secret door. Go through the door and use the bombs to blow up the
wall. Then, jump over the top of the screen and run left.
World 1-2 shortcut
In World 1-2, select Luigi, get the carpet, and fly to the land. Instead of
getting the key, pick up the hopping Ninja and throw it in front of the
door. Then, prepare a squat jump and wait for him to jump high. If done
correctly, you should jump and reach the hill above you. Then, run past the
first door and enter the second one to fight the Boss.
World 3-1 easy coins
In World 3-1, use Toad, because of his lifting power. Fall down the
waterfall, onto the platform where the door is at the bottom. Enter the door
and get the magic potion. Drop it anywhere where there is a continuous
stream of coins. Enter this door, and get as many coins as possible. Go out
the door you used to enter, then return, and repeat once.
World 4-3 find fry guy
Use the Princess in World 4-3. A castle will appear after crossing the lake.
Do not enter the castle. Instead, fly further across the lake to find
another part of the castle.
In-game reset
While playing a game, press Select + Start + A + B.
Yoshi mode

Successfully complete the entire game of Super Mario Brothers 2 to
unlock Yoshi mode You do not need all the red coins. In Yoshi mode,
you must find two Yoshi eggs hidden behind the potion doors. There
are two eggs for each stage.
Easy coins

When you use the magic potion to get the mushrooms, do not pick
up the surrounding vegetables (which are coins in the magic door)
immediately. Instead, find the location in each level where there are
the most vegetables that are close together. Drop the magic potion and
go in the door. Pick up as many coins as possible. Repeat this once,
after doing something that will make the potion reappear (such as
climbing a vine, going down a pipe, or entering a door).
World 4-2: Extra lives

There is a Giant POW in the level. Use it to kill all of the little porcupines
around you. Go up the vine and go back down. Sacrifice your energy to get
to the POW and kill them again. Go back up and get the Heart by holding
Down for a few seconds and jumping. Repeat the process until you get
as many lives as needed
World 6-3 Shortcut

Climb the vine or go through the door to get to the next area. Then,
instead of going right through the world, go left into the quicksand
while holding Left. As soon as you see your character's head disappear.
Start jumping to the left. Keep going until you reach a door. Go through
the door. You should then be on a cloud. Keep jumping from cloud to
cloud until you see the door, then enter it.
99 lives

In world 5-3 come up to the surface and throw the shell on the
ground there, it will keep bouncing off of the walls back and forth.
Jump and land on the shell and wait for the birds to drop the bombs.
The shell will kill the bombs, and after you get a certain amount you
start getting 1-UPS, you can do this forever until you have 99.

On the third world third level when you go to get the key at the top of the
tower you can pull up a turtle shell. after getting the key set it down and
pull the shell out and throw it. Pick up the key and run after it as fast as
possible to keep in the screen. at the bottom where the door is the shell
will keep going back and forth. as the red shy guys fallow you they will
fall in and get hit. which will lead up to you getting 99 lives in a very
short amount of time. "Tip. Use Toad"

Go to World 3-3. Climb the ladder then jump over the spark enemies to the
door over on the ledge. Find the red grass patches; the last one is a shell.
Pick it up. Go back to the bottom of the area, and then throw the shell into
the doorway. Stand on the ledge and wait. After the shell gets enough Shy
Guys to earn 1,600 points, you'll start earning extra lives. You can easily,
and quickly, earn up to 99 lives.

In the first level of the game, you can get extra lives over and over. Enter
the cave where there are the 5 jumping star guys. Pick up the big plant
to the left of them and try to hit all of them. If you successfully do this,
you will get 1, 1up! Leave the room and come back in...all the star guys
will be back! Keep repeating the process until you have as many lives as you want.
Get 12,000 points, a 2up, and a Heart Container

Go to the first POW! in world 1-1. Pick it up and jump over to the left post
by the vine next to the tall land form with the blue ShyGuy on it. Wait for the
bird and the giant ShyGuy to come. Drop the POW! and POW! A 2up, 12,000 points,
and a Heart container.
Free Hearts

If you're ever in need of hearts, look for one of those giant Shy-Guy
enemies. Jump on it, pick it up, then throw it on the ground again. A
heart will come out for you to collect. You can do this an infinite
number of times to the same giant Shy-Guy, too.
Bonus Round tip

Coin tip in Mario Bros

In the Mario Bros. mode, instead of running to collect coins, just hit the
block under the coin. the coin will disappear and you will get the credit for it.
POW tip in Mario Bros

When playing the regular Mario Brothers, wait until the most enemies are
in your screen before blowing up a POW. The more enemies you destroy
with one hit the more points you get and the easier it is to move on to
the next stage.
Boss tips

To beat Mouser, pick up his bombs and throw them back at him.
To beat Clawgrip, dodge the rocks he throws at you, pick them up while
they're on the ground and hurl them back at him.
To beat Fryguy, throw Mushroom Blocks at him until he splits into several
mini-fryguys, and finish them off with Mushroom Blocks too.
To beat Tryclde, throw Mushroom Blocks in front of him to stop his fireballs,
then throw the remaining blocks at him.
Make Birdo bald

This thing is really funny. Sort of, this code can actually make Birdo (Boss
in World 1) bald. How? easy! Jump on her head and press B, like you're going
to pick up a vegetable. Then you'll have her bow. You can either throw it at
her, which will reappear on her head, or throw it off a cliff, or something,
and you'll make her bald!!

Instant Reset

To trigger the game's built-in soft reset and restart the game
without using the power switch, simply hit the following buttons
at the same time: Select + Start + A + B.
Level Warps

Warp to World 4: In level 1-3 go to the area just before the brick
background. Pick up the plants until you get a bottle. Then go past
the brick background until you find a pot and throw the bottle on it.
Go through the door and down the pot into World 4.
Warp to World 5: To warp to level 5, first get to level 3-1. When
you enter the first door, fall all the way down. You have to be in
the middle as you fall. When you stop, you will find a platform
with a door. Enter the door, then look for the potion in the grass.
Pick it up, then throw it on the ground, enter the door in cyberspace,
and go into the vase and you will be at level 5.
Warp to World 6: In level 4-2 In the area with the whales find a
bottle and throw it on the next pot. Enter the doorway and go
down the pot into World 6.
Warp to World 7: Work your way to level 5-3. (It would be a good
idea to choose Luigi for this level because of his superb jumping
skills.) Go up the ladder at the beginning of the level, and then
jump up onto the ledge above the ladder. As soon as you get on
top of the ledge, grab the first grass on the right. It is a potion.
Use the potion and go through the door. Now, while in sub-space,
go down through the pipe.
