Rating: - Replay value only for the college football enthusiasts
First off get roster downloads with all the names of the players for free from here http://freencaa09rosters.com/ then going on your Xbox using the EA locker to download it from whatever user name has the latest rosters. It's about time they came up with this. It's very accurate and it's free.
There are a ton of reviews already. Check out Gamespot, it's pretty accurate. I do believe that it's worth the money even though it's for a few changes and upgrades. Just playing through Legend Mode once and a couple seasons in Dynasty Mode alone should be worth it for the NCAA fans. Then there's achievements and the mini games which I never played. Add the replay value of Legend mode with different positions and of course online dynasty mode and yea it sealed the deal for me and should please any fanatic. I purchased this on Black Friday for $29.99 and at that price the games was a steal.
The repetitive recruiting can be overwhelming at times but if your turning a 1 star program into a 5 star one, it can be pretty fun managing. I tend to do 5-20min quick calls to recruits most of the time and I'll even let the CPU handle it for 3 weeks or more depending on my needs and how bad I want certain players.
I just wanted to point out that I've played NCAA Football on the old Xbox which to this day I still think is better. Remember the slow motion juke moves in 2006? I definetly miss those but with a HDTV came the 360. I've only had 08 and 09 but you gotta believe that next year will be the year it catches up to smoothness and speed of the first gen consoles. Then again it is EA Sports.....
Rating: - NCAA Football 09
AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH man this is the game of the century son!!!!!!!!! The realism is the best feature, plus I advise people to invest in the HDMI cable for your xbox to go along with your HDMI ready TV. The game looks so real and the feel is uncomparible with previous years of NCAA (EA college football). I am a BIG fan of the college football series from EA sports. EA needs to add more features in thier next years, bring back everything about college football including the momentum meter.
Rating: - Avoid this game like the plague
If you like college football, or any aspect of college football avoid this game. Watch a tape of a game from last century with your favorite team. It will be time better spent. The game fails on simple logic of the speed to two players, with often the significantly slower player winning a footrace. With proper movement, you can return about 50% of the kickoffs for TDs. If you play, stick to the run, or sim the games and enjoy the recruiting function.
Rating: - Its still just OKAY.
The game is still just ok. It has never been the same since the transition from NCAA football 07 on xbox to xbox 360. The controls changed on 360, the recruiting changed and got so ridiculous that its near impossible to get the recruit you want, even if he has your school as his number 1 pick of schools. When in legend mode you cant even recruit once again......cant play defense now, cant even control the rest of ur team when the ball is our of ur players hands! The game is way harder.......which is good, but it is hard playing on varsity mode. When throwing down the field on a post route a defender can still jump up and backwards to intercept the ball!! A ball carrier can STILL break through 5 guys for more yardage because theres a way thats already programmed for him to go down while getting tackled. Basic navigation from menu to menu is still complex and stupid. It should take one button to scroll through a depth chart, or some other menu, but NO, instead you have to press two buttons and take up more memory on the disk. There are errors and bugs in the game when scrolling through stat menu's during a game. THUMBS UP EA SPORTS. Look, the game is enjoyable but don't try and make it more complex every year! Keep it simple but fun! The last time it was fun was NCAA football 05, 06, and 07 and regular xbox! KEEP IT SIMPLE MORONS!
Rating: - Better than Madden 09
This is simply the best football game out there. The most teams in a game, which makes the game so easy to adapt to. Madden has fallen to Ncaa franchise many years before the 2009 games came out, and it doesn't even come close this year. The broken tackles are actually realistic. The only thing is that some catches/interceptions aren't realistic but they make up for each other.
