Editorial Review:

Amazon.com:
Anybody who owns the first two Shrek soundtracks knows that ogres inspire not only charming films but great music--last time out, Pete Yorn, Counting Crows, and Joseph Arthur left monster-sized impressions, and the original movie let loose a masterful rendition of "Hallelujah" by a still-under-the-radar Rufus Wainwright. This go-round the proceedings are playful but backward-looking: Fergie's freewheeling take on the Heart standby "Barracuda" leavens Harry Chapin's "Cat's in the Cradle," and Wolfmother's guitar-heavy "Joker and the Thief" stands up straighter than classic rock fans might like alongside Led Zeppelin's classic "Immigrant Song." Eels returns, this time with two doleful but sweet selections, and Eddie Murphy and Antonio Banderas again cut up (but still manage to carry off) a classic: Here, Sly & the Family Stone's "Thank You (Falletin Me Be Mice Elf Again)" gives up the funk and the fun. The court will be split on a certain actor's absence from the disc; King Arthur, played by Justin Timberlake, might have done a mean cover of Moody Blues' "Nights in White Satin." But we'll never know. --Tammy La Gorce

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - Reason for omission of "9 Crimes"
I agree with a previous reviewer about the omission of "9 Crimes" by Damien Rice. The song has explicit lyrics, and the producers may have felt it was an inappropriate choice. However, why they chose to keep it in the movie we can only guess! I got the song from iTunes. Beautiful!

Rating: 3 out of 5 stars - FYI
Just so you know i think the reason why 9 Crimes wasn't included in the soundtrack was because of the lyrics. It's a kids movie remember. The lyrics talk about cheating and uses the analogy of a gun and how the reciprocated offense is like pulling the trigger and if it's Alright to do the same. It's a beautiful yet very sad song. I don't think Dreamworks would care if you chose to find that song elsewhere yourself. Then again, the artist may appreciate it more if you go out and get his CD.

Rating: 3 out of 5 stars - Good but a bit disappointed
This is good overall. But, where is 9 crime as other people asking the same thing? It is not included!! I am a bit disappointed in that.

Rating: 3 out of 5 stars - A Tragedy That 9 Crimes Isn't On It
The Shrek soundtracks are always fantastic because they include every amazing song from the movies. This soundtrack is fun with a definitive retro flare, but the the fact that Damien Rice's "9 Crimes" (from one of the most touching sequences of scenes in the movie) is missing leaves a gaping hole!

Rating: 3 out of 5 stars - Thanks Reviewers
I like the songs that are on here, but I have to agree with the other reviewers. Why was 9 crimes left off? I heard it in the movie and LOVED it,so I got the soundtrack looking for it, but it wasn't there! Then I read the reviews and looked up 9 crimes, and it was the song I had heard and loved. Thanks fellow reviewers!
